The Wang Theater
Produced in partnership with the Boch Center - Wang Theater in Boston, this scale model was created to be put on permanent display at the theater.
Design Process
A model of this complexity deserved a time lapse video to document the 115-hour process and to drive social media engagement. This required meticulous planning and camera placement from the beginning to showcase the process of executing the 10,000 piece build.
I was excited to put my architecture background and knowledge to use during this project. The Theater provided plans and sections of the building for me to use to design the model. Replicating the Theater’s ornate details out of LEGO was an enjoyable challenge. The domed ceiling over the center of the Theater was particularly inspiring, and I was enthusiastic to recreate it out of LEGO. One of the things I had to change about the building was to add openings in the roof of the model in order to brighten the interior of the Theater.
